Moving Day!

Today is the day, we are moving out of our house in El Paso and tomorrow morning we will be on our way to Oklahoma! This is exciting, I love that we get to explore a new town and do fun and new things, but I will miss El Paso and the friends that we have made here.

All day yesterday, the packers were here. It is nice that we didn't have to pack anything, other than the things that we are bringing in the car with us. They got here at 8:45am and left around 4:45pm, holy cow. And I don't even think we have an unusual amount of stuff.

This is currently what our spare bedroom looks like, and really, most of the rest of our house. I am just glad that I didn't have to be the one to pack it all, did I mention that I hate packing? They are here loading up the truck and then tomorrow we will be on our way to Oklahoma to begin our new adventure!

With that said, I will probably be lacking in the posting department, as we need to get there, find a new house and get set up. But I will try my best to keep you updated about our first week in Oklahoma! Talk to you soon!

Mizuno Victory Buy

So, in my last post I mentioned that I was looking to get a pair of Mizuno Wave Riders. I had gone to my local running shop and tried them on and knew we were a match made in walking/running heaven. I didn't know what color I wanted because I love all of their color options.

Well, yesterday, that choice was made for me when I came across a pair in my size, being sold on 6pm.com for $34.99. I could not say no, and now they are mine! I couldn't do the free shipping since we are moving next week, so sadly I paid for shipping, which I NEVER do, but they arrived today! Talk about fast service.

Aren't they pretty! I love the purple and red and I cannot wait to take them for a run when I get off work this afternoon. Then it is off to dinner and a movie date night with my husband! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Run for Heavens Gate 5k Recap

This weekend was full of fun things! On Friday when I got off work we headed over to our local running shop, Up and Running, to register for the Run for Heaven's Gate 5k. While we were at the shop, I had the owner size me for correct running shoes since the shoes I currently run in (New Balance 890v2) bruised my foot last weekend. We determined that the Mizuno Wave Rider 16 would be a good fit for me. But, he didn't have the women's version available in my size to try on, that's the bad thing about having big feet (size 11), so I tried on the men's. They are sooooo comfortable and I decided that I am going to order a pair of the women's online, but I need your help picking my color! Aqua, purple, or red, what do you think?
Saturday morning we woke up and had a little breakfast and headed over to the race. The nice thing is that the race was at a park just a few blocks away from our house, so we didn't have to worry about getting there too late or early, or traffic or anything. We arrived and picked up our numbers and were told that we can pick up our race shirts at the shop this week, since we registered so late. There weren't a ton of people, but it was bigger than the last 5k we did. The race stated at 8am and it started right on time. There was a 5k run, 5k walk and 1 mile walk. We both did the 5k run, so sadly I ended up walking a bit.

Me and Andy both though that they could have picked a better race course because we were in a really nice park, which was not busy, and they still routed most of the race though the neighborhood and side streets, but what are you going to do. Andy had a really good finish and came in third for his age group!

Me not so much, but I finished and this was the first race (other than a mud run) that I had done in a year and a half. It was a good starting point for me and now I know where I need to build and what I need to work on, my endurance. Hopefully the next one will be even better and faster, we will see!

Hail and Farewell #1

Last night was bittersweet as we attended the first of two Hail and Farewells for my husband. We have two to attend as my husband is in one unit, but attached to another. It was a nice dinner and his commander had only great things to say about him. He received his unit colors which are beautiful and will be hung in his office in our new Oklahoma house. I was also recognized with the Commander's Award for Public Service which was a nice surprise.

We have been here since the spring of 2011 and it was definitely an experience living in El Paso, Texas. It had its ups and downs, but it was not something that I would change. We had our first house here, got engaged here, and spent our first wonderful year of marriage here. We are looking forward to our road trip to Oklahoma in a few weeks and to our new home. And then we will move again in the beginning of next year, who knows where, but I hope it will be awesome!

But we still have some fun planned here before we go! This afternoon we plan on going to the driving range, so Andy can enjoy his birthday present (a nice new Nike golf bag)  and tonight we are going to an El Paso Diablos baseball game followed by fireworks. Then tomorrow we are possibly participating in the Run for Heavens Gate 5k and a going away party tomorrow afternoon for another Army family that is leaving town shortly after us. I have a feeling Sunday will be spent relaxing, but who knows! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A Minor Fail on National Running Day

If you are anywhere on the internet and look at anything running-related on a daily basis, then you know that yesterday was National Running Day. There were a lot of companies that held sales and a lot of people posting pictures of their runs. But, I did not run.

I know, you would think that the day that is set aside as National Running Day would be the one day of the year that a runner should make every effort to run, and I did not. But then again, I don't know if I see myself as a runner, just someone who I trying to get in shape and get back into running. I don't know, then maybe I am a runner. I just am who I am and I'll take it.

I had every intention of running yesterday when I got off work, but it did not happen. I had a stressful day at work and Andy got home early and was studying for a test on the history of his unit. Needless to say, we just needed so hang out time.

So, instead of going for a run, I relaxed with my husband, watched TV and made dinner. I would rather live life then do something that is expected of me, such as run on National Running Day. I can make my own National Running Day, today, tomorrow, or any other day. National Running Day for me is any day that I get up off my butt and get out there. I hope you all had a wonderful National Running Day, regardless of what you did!

Also, wishing my husband a very happy birthday! I cannot wait to celebrate and give him his present tonight!

Old Navy Active Sale!

If you know me then you know I am a HUGE Old Navy junkie! I love that they have cute clothes for great prices, and a good half of my closet is currently Old Navy (and the other half is Ralph Lauren, J Crew, and Lilly Pulitzer). I just recently discovered that I LOVE their active line. I bought two pairs of the capris a few weeks ago and have worn them multiple times. They are comfy, fit great, stay up when I am running, and are a great price. And currently, they are having a big sale on all of the Active line!

These two are currently on their way to me and I am ready to get them and try them out! They patterns are nice and they look just as comfortable as the two that I already have!

I am tempted to order these two as well. For $15 how can you say no? I love these so much because, as I have mentioned before, I don't like running in shorts. They always ride up and it is a pain in the butt. But, these stay put my whole run, are light enough that you can run outside in the El Paso summer (or Oklahoma summer as I ill be moving there in 3 weeks) and not feel like you are overheating, and some come in tall lengths which is great for me being 5'11".

I also picked up these tanks last week. They are lightweight and are made from the Old Navy Active fabric. I like them because they aren't skin tight, like so many workout tops. I hate when a top is so fitted that it rides up and you can see my stomach, and I like that these are long, again because I am on the taller side and a lot of workout tanks hit me in a weird spot.

Hope you love the sale as much as me, it is a good time to stock up on summer goodies! Plus, a lot of their swimwear is on sale too!

And lastly, me and Andy decided that we will be running in the Run for Heavens Gate 5k on Saturday. It is at a park right down the road from our house and should be a lot of fun! If you are in El Paso this Saturday, you should join us on the run! I will let you know how it goes next week!
